Southwestern Boho Design | Couple Portraits | EPOCH Co+
Hey Friends! I’m so excited to finally be talking about the southwestern boho wedding day design that was essential in shaping my style as a western wedding designer into what it is today. I’m probably going to have some difficulty not rambling about this design set on a private ranch in Bryan, TX because there’s just so much that I love about it, so wish me luck! I hope that the passion that every creative put into this design shines through!

I am definitely going to get to our tablescape design, the ceremony scene and all the amazing vendors who made this shoot so beautiful, so keep a look-out for that blog coming in the next couple weeks. First though, let’s talk about our oh so sweet model couple Mallan and Trent!
You’ll probably hear me say it again many times, but I love using real couples for shoots! There’s a chemistry there that you just can not get with models. When I started working with my awesome friendor, Mary Beth with Urban Rubbish Weddings, our first goal was to find a bride and groom to design a look around. We had to have the perfect couple to pull off all the ideas we had going through our minds. I met my girl Mallan at church and immediately fell in love with her style. She was definitely my kinda gal! A sassy western fashion lover, with the determination and spirit to get out and work her butt off in the pasture/chutes whenever it was needed. She was such a natural in front of the camera, and (lucky me) she had a sweet fiance who would do pretty much anything with her because he loves her so much!
A little back story, just because I love telling it: Mallan was assisting me on a wedding one weekend, and as soon as I picked her up she says, “Trent told me this past week that he’s gonna propose to me soon.” It took me a minute to realize what she was saying, mainly because I couldn’t comprehend why that wouldn’t be a surprise. The next thing she said to me was so sweet. She told me that Trent has such a hard time keeping any secret from her, so he just had to tell her. How sweet is that? Needless to say -- my heart melted immediately! About a week later I got a text with a ring picture. Trent had proposed to Mallan during one of their church bull riding clinics (they always worked the chutes together). All their friends and family were there to witness the sweet moment, and believe me, the grins from ear to ear on their faces afterward were beyond perfect!
A couple months after our photoshoot, Mallan and Trent had a small ceremony with only family and very close friends on their parents land. Then instead of spending time and money on a big reception, they spent two weeks road tripping around the country. (p.s. shameless plug, I’m casting my vote for more elopements and long honeymoons!! Just call me so I can help you make that day flawless!) Their love for each other is so strong, and I love getting to watch it grow! But my personal favorite moments will be the ones we captured during this shoot. Check out the raw beauty that shines so brightly through these images!
