Luscious Event Design at The Meekermark | Magnolia Wedding Venue | Epoch Co
Although we (Epoch Co+) are based in College Station, we are always seeking out the newest wedding venues with unique designs to offer our future clients in the surrounding areas. When we saw the new wedding venue outside of Houston called The Meekermark - our jaws dropped. From an Open Air Chapel with floating windows, to an indoor reception space built incorporating a reconstructed 1830s barn - there is so much this custom venue offers, that you won't find anywhere else in Texas!
THE DESIGN
Designing events and styling them in-line with the overall vision is one of our favorite services to offer clients. When we get to freely design photo shoots, we always opt for bold, and sometimes unusual, color combinations. We feel this helps set us apart from the vast number of wedding planners out there - not all planners are stylists, and not all stylists are planners. We pride ourselves that we are both! Eclectic and Bold, matched with vibrant colors makes our hearts sing with joy, and we hope the design below makes your heart soar, while inspiring your own wedding day to add pops of color!
NON-TRADITIONAL TABLETOP
The venue offers gorgeous 2 french-style farm tables (similar style farm tables can be sourced from College Station based rental company, Vestige Event Rentals) and in-house gold metal industrial chairs.
We opted to do an array of purples, pinks, pops of yellow and sand for our luscious tablescape color scheme. Urban Rubbish took our inspiration board, and completely rocked it! We created two different tabletop designs - First our non-traditional and bold design - to keep the eye moving, we utilized 3 different elevations. A cascading end-piece flowed effortlessly to a taller white-geometric clay vessel full of dreamy blooms - hello, peony season!! We then added a lower similar style centerpiece with the perfect amount of negative space, and intermingled sand tapers in brass candlesticks and ultra sleek white tapers in zinc votives by Vestige Event Rentals.
Eliana Bernard is a local Austin artisan who creates gorgeous handmade plates that were the perfect place-settings for our inviting tabletop design. Gauzy napkins, custom-dyed by the Epoch Co wedding planners added a soft touch to round out the design. Black flatware and vintage goblets were just a few more unique touches we added to the off-set design we carried over to the plates and utensils.
When designing a wedding we believe the tablescapes make a huge impact! Our first choice is the table and chairs themselves. If you can upgrade your chairs, it can make a big impact on the overall look as your eyes scan the room. Luckily, The Meekermark chose a fine looking in-house chair for their clients!! We also firmly believe keeping your place settings clean and simple - if you want to add in some funky colors or textures, opt to do so in the goblets or napkins. We chose to keep the goblets classic with a clear color option, the plates a subtle millenial pink and added texture through the gauzy napkins. To change it up a bit, we opted to do non-traditional design by off-setting the plates, angling the delicately draped napkin and placing both flatware on the right side (blade in of course!).
CLASSIC TABLETOP
For our second design concept we showed similar pieces being used in a more classic fashion, but still mixing it up with the different elevations of the two focal centerpieces. Eliana's plates were used in a traditional setting with the napkin draped between the dinner and salad plate. Each end was then flanked by a trio of sand tapers in brass candlesticks - we always find a way to add in that romantic ambiance.
Our team is always looking for ways to add a custom touch to each event - for this tabletop scene, we opted to do this with the custom dyed gauzy runner. For the gauzy runner, instead of dip-dyeing the ends, we dip-dyed the edges using a mixture of turmeric and yellow onion peels, which created the most gorgeous peachy color!
Love and lace wedding dress boutique
Love and Lace out of Navasota, Texas is who we teamed up with to bring you two gorgeous dress options. With the Royal Wedding just passing, we couldn't help but fall in love with minimal and modern wedding dress "Heaven" by Oksana Mukha - a Ukranian wedding dress designer. The front lace detailing and disguised pockets are absolutely fantastic!! It is a great option for the traditional bride looking for a unique twist without it being over the top.
Look how that bouquet just pops against the dress? And the unique hem-line in the front of the dress where the lace cascades down the length of the front! DREAMY!
For our completely non-traditional dress, we chose the off-the-shoulder stunner, "Roxanne" by Eddy K. Y'all. This dress is so fun!!! From the unique sleeves, decadent lace detailing, and dramatic sweetheart neckline, it is sure to impress!! I invite you to try on a different dress! Do not dismiss a dress based on the way it looks on the hanger, you just might surprise yourself!
THE DETAILS
Everything from the stationery to the shoes go into the design of a wedding. We absolutely loved the modern and elegant design provided by The Sensible Type, complete with a classic crest design! And real talk, Jennie (the owner and creative mastermind behind The Sensible Type) is hands down one of the sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. Talk about someone who will cheer you on and be genuinely excited about each and every design idea you allow her to collaborate with you on.
Styling stationery and details are some of our favorite tasks as wedding planners. For Full Planning clients who use a trusted photographer recommended by us, we are able to go the extra mile and create stunning details such as this for your final wedding album! Layering handmaid details like the runner, with florals and paper goods make for stunning images (and fun phone backdrops!).
