Howdy everyone! I am Heather - the mastermind behind Epoch co+ and with Fall nearly here, I couldn't help but reminisce on the first wedding I ever planned and designed...In October 2012, I married my Aggie sweetheart after a 2.5 year long engagement. I thoroughly enjoyed planning and designing my own wedding to incorporate my husband, Henry's rustic Texas roots, and my obsession with all things Fall. However, it was a prime example on how important it is to have a professional wedding coordinator present. There is so much more that goes into a wedding than just making it look pretty. From 0% chance of rain, to tornado warnings and a torrential downpour...to my cake melting, my bustle being ripped out by a guest and the exit limo for us and our entire wedding party forgetting they had us on their schedule that day....we had a long list of things go wrong, and I had no formal training or experience when my wedding day rolled around (it wasn't until 2014 that I decided to get formal training and education, and dive head-first into planning weddings). Regardless of the mishaps, it was a gorgeous day that Peyronet Photography captured better than I could have ever imagined, and I can truly say I loved my wedding day because we put so much thought and effort into every little detail.

The Ceremony

For the ceremony space, we didn't need to add a lot due to the beautifully manicured grounds at Double Creek Crossing. We simply chose to add some fun fall swag to the chairs using a mixture of fall leaves, wheat and cotton.

The Centerpieces

Our centerpieces were by far one of my favorite parts to design and plan. I knew I wanted to intermingle fresh and dried centerpieces. Fall is the transformation of foliage and the emerging of beautiful vibrant colors, and I wanted the designs to embrace this. We utilized a combination of wood slabs that my dad made from trees that had fallen on the land we grew up going to in Livingston, and wood slabs from my soon-to-be-brother-in-law. Mason jars are a Texas centerpiece staple it seems, and I knew I wanted to give the traditional "mason jars with baby breath" a fresh twist by nixing the baby's breath entirely. Instead, we opted for colorful textures to really bring the fall design to life. Mason jars were also utilized to house votive candles and mixtures of acorns.

Tabletop Decor

Brown linens were chosen to add a neutral color to all the bold and colorful floral centerpieces. We added a rustic touch by adding burlap overlays in alternating colors of brown and traditional burlap. Gold chargers marked each place setting and were adorned with a small box featuring two truffles from one of our favorite chocolate shops in the first town we moved to after graduating Texas A&M, Wiseman Chocolate House.

Cake

Sandee's Sweets did a fantastic job translating our vision for our cakes. We opted to do non-traditional wedding cake flavors - pumpkin for bride's cake, Italian cream cake for the groom. Our favorite movies also inspired the little details of our cakes....any true western fan will understand the groom's cake.

Lonesome Dove, anyone? Henry insists we watch this movie at least once a year...and anyone who knows this movie, knows it's the length of a mini-series!

Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time favorites, so who better than Jack Skellington to have peeping out of the bottom of my cake?
