The Grand Texana Maroon and Blue Rustic Wedding | Houston, Texas | EPOCH Co+

Carla and Ben got married in October, during my absolute favorite season! They chose the precious little dairy barn -- The Grand Texana -- for their location. With Ben being our resident Aggie (there’s always one right?), we had to pay tribute to that using the beautiful combination of maroon and navy color pops, using lots of mini white pumpkins and touches of gold. Carla and Ben got our Month of Coordination package, and I was so beyond pleased and honored to help them with that last little jaunt to the finish line!

DETAILS + PORTRAITS

The best thing about working with the full inclusive package at The Grand Texana is that your decor is mostly taken care of, sans your personal touches on the day. Which makes time for even more pictures of all the little moments of your day. Carla and Ben had the cutest ideas for their fall October wedding -- aka we used PUMPKINS! I love fall weddings so much...the colors and the temperature of the season just give it so much of a warm feeling both inside and out and it just makes me all kinds of ready to celebrate love! That warmth was carried over into the party with the help of the super energetic wedding party. The wedding party sure does add to the whole of the party, making sure that all the guests are excited and living it up for the celebration of the new Mr. and Mrs.

But moving back onto topic, because we had so many beautiful details, and so much time, the amazing Rachel Driskell was able to get so many great shots. I wish I had room to share them all, but for now you’ll just have to love these!

BRIDE + GROOM

I love working weddings where ultimately the couple is just ready to start their life together. The whole wedding day is stressful for some because they just feel like there is so much pressure, but ultimately I desire to make your wedding day what it’s truly about -- starting your life as a brand new family! Carla and Ben may have been one of my favorite couples to work with simply because of their relaxed nature, and love for each other. While Carla worked hard to make sure that all the details were taken care of, her ultimate goal was to be married to her best friend by the end of the day! I was so thankful that even though Carla and Ben got me as the “default” in-house month-of coordinator at the time, they trusted me enough to place every detail of their special day in my hands. Having that last month the talk with the couple and go over every last detail is so crucial, and I loved getting to talk every last detail with Carla to ensure that her day went off without a hitch!

THE PARTY -- Including Live Action Artist!

Okay I can’t even wait to lead up to this y’all...Carla and Ben had a LIVE PAINTER!!! Oh my gosh it was so unique and so much stinking fun to watch! Basically, Jenny (the painter) came a little over an hour before the ceremony started and began her work on her canvas. She painted the background of the first dance scene and then got pictures of our wedding party for the day and added a few of them in there...finally finishing with our beautiful new husband and wife during their first dance! Carla and Ben had the option to do either the ceremony scene or their first dance for their painting, and chose very wisely I believe! I know I went off on that, but I don’t really care because y’all, this was the coolest thing. It creates such a cool thing for Carla and Ben to hang onto for quite some time.

As far as the party, man it was amazing. A great mix between two-stepping and hip hop music, along with some wonderful fellowship with friends and family! There was even a little stint in there where I hopped in and started dancing -- I can’t not move to Footloose! And while Rachel did happen to capture a couple shots of that dance, you do not get to see those. I am 100% white girl, and boy do I dance like one!! I also have to mention the cakes, which you see a shot of below. Carla decided to go with 3 different flavors for her cake, one of which was pumpkin (of course!!). Having that gold added in there really added another extra beautiful layer to their design of the day!
